About JEE Main & Advanced

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is India's most prestigious national-level competitive exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) annually. It opens doors to the country's top engineering institutions.

JEE comprises two main parts:

  1. JEE Main – Gateway to NITs, IIITs, and centrally funded technical institutions
  2. JEE Advanced – Exclusive entrance to the 23 IITs across India

JEE Main serves as both an admission test and an eligibility criterion for JEE Advanced. Your performance determines not just your placement but your entire engineering career trajectory.

Understanding Cut-offs

1

Qualifying Cut-off

The minimum score required to become eligible for JEE Advanced and to qualify for the next level of the examination. This is crucial as it determines if you can appear for JEE Advanced to compete for IIT seats.

2

Admission Cut-off

The score required for seat allocation in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs via JoSAA/CSAB counselling. This determines the quality of institute and branch you can secure based on your rank.

🎓 Admission & Counselling Process

After qualifying JEE Main, successful candidates get admission through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) or CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) counselling based on their All India Rank (AIR).

Requirements for NIT/IIIT Admission:

Board Marks Minimum 75% marks in XII (65% for SC/ST/PWD categories)
Subject Requirement Pass each subject individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory.
Optional Subject One elective from Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology
Counselling Rounds Multiple rounds of seat allocation based on merit, choice filling, and category
